If you’re anything like us, you can’t wait for the fall to get here. Weeks on end of hundred degree heat and nightly thunderstorms get old quickly, and we long for days when the leaves are changing and a cool breeze is guaranteed.
We’re also excited for the arrival of the 2016 MKX. It’s been nearly five years since that model was last updated, and now Lincoln is bringing you an all-new crossover (the second in a row, for those keeping score).
Autoblog counted and found 36 new features across all trims in the new MKX. We know the most important of those features is a new engine option. The 3.7L naturally aspirated V6 will be the base option going forward, but you’ll want to get excited for the available 2.7L EcoBoost V6. It delivers 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque to this family crossover.
The studious will see that the latest incarnation of the MKX learns much from its younger sibling, the MKC. That’s why the new EcoBoost will come with a six-speed automatic transmission and available Lincoln Drive Control, offering three distinct driving modes: Normal, Comfort, and Sport.
All-wheel drive is also available if you prefer that over the standard front-wheel drive.
That’s not all the good news, though. Despite giving you more power, more features, and more options, Lincoln is also dropping the base MSRP of the MKX by nearly $1000. After destination fees, the new base price will be $38,995, down from $39,795 on 2015 models.
The summer months might feel long, but just keep thinking of that cool breeze. Fall isn’t so far away, and neither is the next ingenious automobile from Lincoln.
